The Waimea Consort, an a cappella vocal ensemble of 12 singers, has
been organized in January 1999 to bring rarely heard vocal music to the
Big Island. Concerts in Waimea, Hilo and Honolulu allowed many to discover
medieval, baroque, and 20th century a cappella music. Its last concert
was in Waimea in October and attracted more than 120 people for a very
well received performance.
If you love vocal music, if you want to listen to a wide range of polyphonic songs celebrating the Nativity and listen to traditional carols (and even sing along), come to the Christmas Concert of the Waimea Consort. You should not regret it, and it is even worth an up-hill drive to Waimea from either side of the Island...
Concert is free, and starts at 7 p.m. at HPA's upper campus chapel. For more information, you can contact the Waimea Consort's Director, ChristianVeillet, at 885-2124 (veillet@cfht.hawaii.edu), or visit the Consort's web site at http://www.cfht.hawaii.edu/~veillet/choir.html
